PRODUCT DETAILS:
Verbascum thapsus (mullein) is an herb that has a towering flower stalk. Growing over 7 feet tall, it is easily seen in fields and pastures. It was brought to America from Europe over 200 years ago for its use for pulmonary and respiratory conditions. The Native Americans smoked the dried leaves in ceremonial and medicinal ways.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES:
INTERESTING FACTS
Viable mullein seed can lay dormant in the soil for more than a hundred years. When the ground is disturbed, the mullein seed only needs 5 seconds of light to initiate germination!
Mullen will flourish only for a few years after the soil is disturbed.
Whitetail deer feed heavily on mullein right after the first snowfall. In some studies, Mullein counts for 20-30 percent of a whitetail's diet in winter.
Pre-revolutionary war, settlers would crush the seeds and drop them into the water to poison then catch fish. Although effective, this is illegal in modern times.
What is a tincture? A tincture is an alcoholic herb derivative. Tinctures are effective in extracting the medicinal components and preserving them for longer periods of time. Tinctures are also simple to use and easily absorbed by the body. This tincture is about 60 percent water extracted and 40 percent alcohol extracted. The tincture is great to add to tea, coffee, or your favorite drinks to get the full effect of the herb.
